We have now closed our gates for the 2024 season and we cannot thank you all enough for your support of us this year.

It has been a challenging year for Cornwall, with the wettest spring on record, and a summer that wasn’t exactly a scorcher – but everyone that came in and visited us has kept us going and we are so so grateful.

It is amazing to Stuart and myself (Nat) that we have been looking after the garden for 9 season now!

Autumn is the time of year that always prompts me to feel nostalgic and reflective of the season we’ve had here at the garden. 2024 being our 9th year since Stuart and I took on the challenge of running the business.

My parents began their journey to create their dream for a Japanese garden here in beautiful Cornwall almost 40 years ago (in 1985). At this time, and to the shock of their friends and family, they took a leap of faith and bought an overgrown wilderness and derelict house here in St.Mawgan village and began the epic task of creating the Bonsai nursery and Japanese garden.

10 years ago they made the decision to retire and to the shock of everyone, including them and myself, Stuart and I decided to have a go at taking over management of the garden – as seeing it close and overgrow felt overwhelming sad and wrong.

Their incredible vision and hard work resulted in a place that touches so many people; including their daughter (me) not to mention countless visitors that feel something special when they step inside our little 1 acre oasis.

Many people can’t tell you what it is that makes them feel such a sense of calm or wonder, but they come out from the garden feeling something and that to me is so special in itself. Being able to offer a place that can touch people and leave them feeling better than when they walked in – it something kind of magical I think.

Thank you to you all so much for sharing in our love of trees, plants and nature – and we will hopefully see you next Spring when we reopen on the 1st March 2025!
