As we enter May for 2024 the garden is bursting with spring colour.
There are many azaleas now budding and flowering and the Japanese maples are radiant with fresh foliage.
Despite the weather being very up and down with sunshine and rain and still so cold with the cool temperature the plants are still powering ahead with some of our azaleas already flowered. I guess even with the colder temperatures the plants are keen to get going for the season.
Its quite remarkable to see how fast everything is growing at this time of year. As the foliage fills in many gaps, our gardeners are constantly pruning!
After what feels like the longest winter ever we are now finally getting some drier spells and some much needed sunshine.
On May 1st the garden celebrated being open to the public for 27 years – after a 7 year creation.
Looking at some of the old photographs (posted on the previous blog post) its amazing to view the change in the look and feel of the garden. It now has trees and plants that you walk under – instead of viewing at eye level! 27 years of growing and maturing has resulted in the aged and settled look the garden always strives to have.
The word ancient is always desirable for the garden and the maturity of everything now gives that feeling almost everywhere you look.
The shop has also been a hive of activity this week with even more deliveries arriving including some singing bowls, beautiful Calcite geodes, gemstone tea strainers, Bali fans, and hand painted bowls from Vietnam. We’ve even been busy planting up some of our succulents into lovely little indoor pots.
My visit this week was filled with some rainfall, some sunshine and lots of colour everywhere I looked so please enjoy checking out the pictures I captured below –
