Less than a week to go now before we close our gates for the 2024 season!
Next Friday (15th November) is our last day open for the year for both the garden and the shop – although our online shop will be available to place orders until November 30th.
It amazes me how quickly the maples change at this time of year. I photographed the garden just 4 days ago and the change is incredible in just half a week.
Some of the maples have already gone over and some are at peak now, with just a handful still yet to turn fully.
It feels so autumnal everywhere now in Cornwall and the colours are so vibrant in the garden.
It’s such a wonderful aspect of nature that just before the trees go dormant for winter and drop their leaves from the summer; they transform in to the most vivid and bright shades.
It makes me think of an orchestra playing music – all the instruments playing at slightly different moments, but all building together for the big finish!
In a week we will be closed to the public and beginning our next renovation project in the garden – again working on the koi pond and primarily the small, second waterfall area.
After suffering with flooding for years during the winter months in one particular area of the garden we are now attempting to remedy this.
Its going to be a busy winter again with work but hopefully will be worth it for the improvements we hope to make.
If you are hoping to visit this week – please make sure you get in to see us before the end of the day on Friday 15th November next week. We are now closing at 5pm due to the light levels dropping for winter so last entry to the garden is now at 4pm – although I would recommend coming earlier so you can see the colours in better light.
