June has flown by this year at record pace! I can’t believe we are in the final week of the month already.
The garden is lapping up the warm weather and sunshine and as a result is growing like crazy right now. Everywhere you look there are inches of new growth sprouting.
The flowers are mostly done for the year now but there are still a few late flowering azaleas offering up some blossoms.
I spent my visit today admiring the textures of the leaves which are now displaying their summer colour pallet. The cedrus Atlantica glauca is a particular fave of mine which is just by the bridge across the pond – its stunning, spikey, blue needles are always beautiful against the green backdrop at this time of year.
The new benches have now been built along the edge of the decking area which cannot be missed as they look very NEW – we look forward to seeing them weather and darken so as not to be so dramatically new (we value our aged look in the garden)!
The benches will not be treated with anything as the run off will end up in the pond and the Koi do not respond well to any chemicals.
The pond water is sadly looking quite cloudy at the moment and the Koi have been rather elusive this season. Ive been hoping to see the water clear so I can capture some lovely photos of the Koi carp but the sunshine is causing the algae to bloom and we think that there may be another factor causing the cloudiness as we have been treating the water regularly for the health of the fish – which perhaps is having an effect on the clarity unfortunately.
My visit today was a very quick one as I didn’t have very much free time at all but it was lovely having a wonder round and see the changes since my last visit.
Everything is growing and expanding and I could feel the energy of the space filled with that excitement of summer.
Summer always offers so much life and a feeling of abundance. Plants shoot out new growth everywhere as it soaks up the warm sunshine.
It is a beautiful time of year!
