A wonderful first week open for the 2025 season.
The sun has been shining for a lot of our first week which has been wonderful. The warmth and the golden light has just been the perfect beginning and the garden is waking up beautifully.
We’ve had a big Bonsai delivery since we reopened so our indoor house and outdoor tree areas are looking much fuller and we have another delivery arriving next week which will include several more species and lots of Bonsai pots.
I enjoyed visiting the garden yesterday despite the sunshine hiding behind the clouds as I walked the pathways. Its amazing how the different lighting can effect how the garden is experienced depending on the weather and the time of day that you visit.
The rhododendron above the leat walk is now in bloom and its blossoms are stunning.
I love seeing those huge buds opening up at this time of year.
The pink dwarf azalea near the garden entrance is also putting on a show already and one of the plum cherries is beginning to flower.
Spring is definitely in the air everywhere you look there are buds and unfurling leaves.
We are still busy working in the garden putting back together some of the dismantled areas due to the pond work – so please excuse the odd bit of pipework showing – we are on it but we want to get it right so its taking time.
This week we have several new Koi carp arriving which will add another influx of colour to the pond and we can’t wait to welcome them to their new home.
The water is now looking crystal clear and the Koi have started to move around a little now the water is warming up a bit – as they huddle under the bridge when its cold. So its lovely to see them happily gliding around the water again.
Check out the pictures I captured yesterday – pictured below –
